
National Exhibition of 1894 – the beginnings of electrification of Lviv
Summary: The article is based on a paper delivered on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the National Exhibition in Lviv.
The article describes the implementation of the preparations of the city and its public utility buildings for the exhibition. It discusses electrical innovations that were used in the arrangement of the lighting of the exhibition space and the fountain with colored lighting. For the needs of the exhibition, two power plants were launched and an electric tram was introduced as a new means of transport. It also presents outstanding electricians whose inventions and innovative solutions could be admired during the exhibition. Attention was drawn to the influence of electricity on the lives of subsequent generations and the role that the exhibition played in this.
