Summary: The article is based on a paper delivered on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the National Exhibition in Lviv.
The article discusses the problems associated with the electrification of Lviv. The early introduction of electricity aroused many emotions, fears and controversies. Electricity, unknown to people, was a cause for mockery and jokes. The competition for survival appeared in the form of accusations and obstructions to the introduction of technical innovations. Newspapers sought opportunities to criticize electrical innovations. During this difficult period of the emergence and development of the electrical power industry in Lviv, there were also disputes among electricians themselves.
