Summary: The article describes the beginnings of the birth of Biomedical Engineering at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. A significant influence on the creation and consolidation of this field at AGH was exerted by prof. Ryszard Tadeusiewicz. In this publication, he cites several, little-remembered, facts. He describes an interesting path of the beginnings of the future Biomedical Engineering - from the idea, fascination, commitment, through management of the Independent Biocybernetics Laboratory, to development in unfavorable circumstances and the realization of the goal. The article is based on a paper delivered during a ceremonial meeting of the Senate of the AGH University of Science and Technology devoted to awarding Professor Ryszard Tadeusiewicz the title of Honorary Professor of AGH.
